We plan to ski for six days, including the arrival and departure days. The Basecamp has direct access to the surrounding terrain: four forest and six alpine areas with vertical drops up to 1,400 meters are all in our hands! Daily vertical gain is 600+ meters.
Accommodation is in fully-furnished twin bed modules heated with piping hot wood-burning stoves—bed linen and duvets are all provided. The guests enjoy three full meals a day and can freely use our shared dining/après-ski module to chill out over a cup of tea (or something stronger?) after a leg-burning freeride day. Another fine addition to the winter backcountry experience is our mobile woodshed banya (sauna) with a hot shower available at the camp.
The WildGuru Basecamp is a two-hour or less hike from the civilization, with a vertical gain of around 600 meters. On the arrival and departure days, our guide will accompany you all the way to/from the camp, while a snowmobile will take care of your gear. And of course, any time we reach the Basecamp—whether the first time upon arrival or just after another powder day—there will be warm meals laid out for us in the dining room.

Have a look at our backcountry experience in Racha, seasons 2021/22 and 2022/23:
Arrival/departure city: Tbilisi or Kutaisi, depending on your flight. We arrange private car transfers from any of these cities (and back) for all participants.
Day 1
We take a car transfer from Tbilisi/Kutaisi to a town of Oni (Racha): it takes about 7 hours from Tbilisi and 3 hours from Kutaisi. Check into the guesthouse in Oni, settle in, and chill.
Day 2
We take a car transfer and have a light-handed skitour to the Basecamp. All gear will be delivered to the camp by snowmobile. Skitour time: 2 hours, climb: 600 vertical meters.
Day 3-6
We skitour and freeride till sunset; then we head back to the Basecamp to chill, warm up in the sauna, and share stories.
Day 7
We pack the gear in advance, freeride until 3 pm and return to our guesthouse to enjoy the blessings of civilization.
Day 8
We pack up and take a car transfer back to Tbilisi or Kutaisi.
Our home in Racha is a family-run cozy guesthouse in the town of Oni. Accommodation type is twin hotel rooms with amenities; and three good homemade meals a day. We will stay here at the start (1 night) and at the end (1 night) of the programme. Please note that the guesthouse serves only traditional Georgian meals.
In the mountains, we will stay in a tented WildGuru Basecamp packed with everything one would need for a winter backcountry experience. The Basecamp features a shared heated module for rest activities and dining; private heated and fully-furnished twin bed modules for guests (bed linen and duvets provided); and a woodshed sauna with a hot shower. Electricity and Wi-Fi are both available in the camp. Please see a detailed description of our Basecamp environment and features. As for meals, we provide full board catering (Georgian and European cuisine). All meals are served in the shared dining module: breakfast—buffet, lunch—starters and warm soups, dinner—starters and warm meals.
Note. If you are allergic to food or have specific preferences, please indicate this in your booking application.
Please make sure to pack for five full days for a backcountry stay and grab some spare warm clothes to wear in the camp. Don't forget to bring extra shoes (Crocs rubber clogs or equaled for the sauna and high warm boots for walking around the camp), a headlamp, and personal hygiene products. Bed linen, bath towels, and all kitchen utensils and appliances are provided.
The outside temperature at the Basecamp (1,820 m) will be −2...−8°C (+17...+28°F) during the day, and −10...−20°C (-4...+14°F) at night. The wooden stove can run on a single batch of wood for 3 to 6 hours and keep a comfortable temperature during this period. We recommend taking a personal sleeping bag (comfort rate around 0°C (32°F)) if you are a cold sleeper or just don't want to wake up during the night and throw wood inside the stove.
If you need any kind of advice, we will be glad to help.
