Ski touring in the wild mountains of Kvemo Svaneti, one of Georgia’s least explored mountain regions, with forested slopes, deep valleys, and the pristine wilderness of the Greater Caucasus.
Project Z is six days of ski touring based in the village of Sasashi. Every day, we head out to explore untouched slopes and fresh snow, laying our own tracks in this wild and remote corner of the Caucasus.
There are no lifts or groomed pistes here — just mountains, skis or a snowboard, and the opportunity to discover new lines far from the crowds and noise.
Kvemo Svaneti Project Z is for those who want to explore the unknown Caucasus, ride off-piste, and immerse themselves in true backcountry skiing.

This is a wild, unexplored region where you can be the first to lay your tracks, take photos, and create your own videos!
The program starts and ends in Tbilisi or Kutaisi, depending on which flights are most convenient for you. We recommend arriving one day before the program begins. We arrange private transfers for all participants from either city.
Day 1. Arrival and start of the program
Transfer from Tbilisi or Kutaisi to the village of Sasashi. Check-in and time to relax.
Day 2
Avalanche safety training and the first day of ski touring.
Days 3–6
Full days of ski touring from morning to evening, with breaks for lunch.
Day 7. End of the program
Transfer back to Tbilisi or Kutaisi. We recommend booking your departure flight for the following morning.
At Kvemo Svaneti Project Z, we stay in a cozy, traditional-style house. The accommodation is simple and hostel-style, with shared facilities on each floor. The house has hot showers, heating, and Wi-Fi, while a sauna is located outside.
We provide three meals a day, featuring traditional Georgian cuisine prepared by a professional chef. Alcoholic drinks can be purchased according to your preferences in Tbilisi or Kutaisi, or at the house.
If you have any food allergies or special dietary requirements, please let us know in your booking application.
Kvemo Svaneti Project Z boasts heavy and frequent snowfalls. One-night snowfall can bring a meter of fresh snow: powder skis (110 mm waist or fatter) are strongly recommended for skiers.
We suggest that you prep your gear and re-glue skins before the trip. Please also note that glueless skins or dirty/old glue may perform poorly in cold temperatures.
