After a short descent, we will have the first night in tents next to a small brook.
The next day we continue going in the direction of Ugviri pass with fantastic views of Svansky ridge. Car trail gradually turns into a narrow mountain way, and behind us are such villages as Mestia and Eli. In front a small Svan village Tsvimri is situated. We will have an overnight behind the village on a picturesque meadow with clear springs and wood for the fire.
Going down to the Ugiri pass, skip onto a dirt road and continue on our way to a new ski resort “Tetnuldi”, where we can see panoramic view of the Svansky ridge and the Main Caucasian Ridge. The resort is behind us and we are on a steep mountain trail down into the village Adishi where you can buy delicious homemade suluguni cheese. We continue our way through the valley of the river to the foot of the glacier Lardaad, our overnight stay will be nearby.
We say goodbye to the glacier and go through the pass at 2700 meters then turn to the neighboring valley with views of the mountains Jangi-Tau and Shota Rustaveli. On the path we will be bypassing old abandoned villages, we go to Lalhori and passing through the village we set up a camp on the bank of a mountain stream.
In the morning we rise up the trail to the alpine lakes. On this day, we have to gain almost a kilometer high, but the reward will be spending the night right next to the mountain lake, which is hidden from many tourists. After rising a little higher, we will be able to see a beautiful sunset overlooking the Main Caucasian Ridge.
