Mount Kazbek (5033 m) is located on the border between Georgia and Russia. Ascensions are possible from both sides. The easiest route from the Russian side has difficulty 2B category, from Georgia – 2A. Climbing is possible all the year around, but for a number of objective reasons, the most popular is summertime. A detailed program of Kazbek ascension PREMIUM

Day 1

Meeting in Tbilisi (at the airport or in the city). Transfer to Stepantsminda with sightseeing along the way (the old capital of Georgia Mtskheta, Jvari monastery, Ananuri fortress). Optional: swimming in the reservoir Zhinvali, lunch at the tavern in Pasanauri. Hotel Accommodation in Stepantsminda (Kazbegi).

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel, gathering and transfer to the Church of Gergeti. Light trekking to”Green Overnight” (3000 m). The path takes 3-4 hours. There we set up a camp, have a rest and some snacks. After we make an acclimatization hike to 3250m. Then we return back, have supper and rest.

Day 3

Breakfast, camp gathering and light transition to Betlemi Hut – mountain shelter (3650 m). The path takes 3-4 hours. Dinner. Accommodation in one of the rooms. Recreation. Snow and ice exercises near the weather station. Upon return dinner and sleep.

Day 4

Breakfast, gathering and second acclimatization hike to the height of 4300-4500 m. Return to the camp. Lunch and rest. Preparing for the night climb. Dinner and an early rest.

Day 5

Early rise (01: 00-03: 00 am). Climbing to the top of Mount Kazbek (5033 m). Return to the camp, dinner, rest and recover from the climb.

Day 6

Reserve day in case of bad weather.

Day 7

Breakfast. Light descent to the Gergeti Church (2200 m). Transfer to Tbilisi. End of the program.
