Ski touring offers freeriders excellent opportunities to ride in completely new far off locations! Untouched deep snow has never been so close! Goals: Teaching the ski tour ascend techniques, teaching to use ski touring gear and take care of it, improving avalanche sensor operation skills, studying and analyzing snowpack, selecting safe lines of ascend and descend. Audience: confident skiers and snowboarders with previous backcountry riding experience. As freeride is becoming increasingly popular, those who prefer wild lands have to move further and further away from well-known tourist destinations. This is where ski touring and split board gear comes in. It helps you move not only faster, but also easier. At ski tour school, you will learn to use specialized gear. We will thoroughly study the structure of snow and avalanche risk assessment methods. You will acquire hands-on experience of selecting ascend lines and putting knowledge of mountain relief into practice. We are convinced that for off-piste skiing it is necessary to possess of a variety of ski and snowboard techniques and skillful combining of them. Objectives: Progress in skiing, which allow you to be confident off-piste and discover new routes and ski areas; obtaining necessary freeride skills. Learning how to work with avalanche equipment, choosing the right line of ascents and descents, the tactics of behavior in a group and decision making. Snow in Gudauri
Snow conditions around Gudauri resort: 17 November, mount Chrdili: +1ºC, sunny, 2,504 meters above sea level. Snow is down to 1,5 meters deep. Snow is wet and very heavy. 18 November, mount Bidara: -10ºC, cloudy, 3,200 meters above sea level. Snow is down to 80 cm deep. Thanks to frost at day and night time the snow became fluffy and very good for riding. Exciting descend!
